One dead, seven injured in Saptari bus accident

Saptari, Oct 22 (RSS): One person died and seven others were injured when a passenger bus met with an accident today in Saptari along the East-West Highway. The bus (Ba 4 Kha 4470) slid off the road and fell five meters down at Devdhar of Shambhunath municipality-7, killing Deepak Rai, 45, of Kavrepalanchowk, the Saptari police said. Rai was the driver’s assistant.
The bus was en route to Kathmandu from Chatara in Sunsari.
Those hurt in the incident have been identified as Santosh Limbu, 31, of Baraha Kshetra municipality-3 of Sunsari, Binita Shrestha, 27, of the same locality, Gopal Dahal, 35, of Baraha Kshettra muncipality-6 and his spouse 30-year-old Leela Dahal and their five-year-old Siju Dahal, Januka Bastola, 54, of Baraha Kshettra municipality-7. Sita Raut, 34, of Satnet rural municipality-1 in Khotang district and Tara Karki, 24, of Phatuwagadhi rural muncipality-2 in Bhojpur district.

The injured ones are receiving treatment at the local Hospitals and clinic at Kharchiya in Kalyanpur and at Lahan in Siraha district, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police, Bhawash Rimal. According to the injured passengers, the bus was rising in high speed and some 35 people were travelling in the ill-fated bus.
